Just found this website, thanks to my husband’s investigation of his family tree. This is the grave of his great-grandfather, who was apparently quite the pillar of the community in Ida Grove, Iowa. This is the grave of my great-great-grandparents in Cotopaxi, Colorado, which unfortunately doesn’t include the obituary information that appears on most of the Ida Grove graves.
Find a Grave apparently contains some 28 million grave records. The site actually has a store that sells t-shirts with headstones on them, which is a little creepy, even if it’s an interest in genealogy rather than simple Goth morbidness that’s behind them. Nevertheless, it seems like a potentially useful resource in hunting down my kids’ dead ancestors, as well as yet another way for me to waste time on the internet.
