Not much blogging time today, so just a quick link to S. Weasel’s post about Ghurka veterans of the British Army not being allowed to remain in the U.K. I admit I’m not an expert on British immigration policy, but it does seem rather unsportsmanlike, to say the very least, not to allow men who have risked life and limb fighting for your country to live in it.

    It does seem rather unfair but I believe the reasoning behind it is that they are no longer under British rule and a line must be drawn somewhere. People who fought for the crown should certainly be excepted, but later generations could not possibly be without some major problems. The Brits had a class of citizenship as opposed to a single nationality like we have. Having a British Passport did not necessarily mean that you could live anywhere you wanted to live in Britain. It is a very complicated issue.
